“UP OUT”: EVANGELISM OR DISCIPLING?

03 June 2013

pnbsp;br /
The lsquo;Great Commissionrsquo; is probably one of the most misquoted passages in the Bible. Before He ascended to heaven, Jesus instructed the onlookers not to go and preach the gospel but to go and lsquo;...make disciples of all the nationshellip;rsquo;(Matthew 28: 19 NLT). Therersquo;s a difference! God emcan /emstill work wonders in someonersquo;s life if you dump the Gospel on them and run, but His instruction to you was to walk with them through solid long-term discipleship, investment and teaching (which is so much more rewarding anyway!)br /
nbsp;br /
Some feel called to lsquo;evangelismrsquo; and others to lsquo;discipleshiprsquo; but the truth is wersquo;re all called to both. A gift of evangelism is not a cop-out for avoiding the long hard graft of discipleship. A gift of discipleship is no excuse not to step out and share the good news with people who need to hear it. Youth and inexperience isnrsquo;t an excuse because however little you may feel you know, strongemthere are people who need to hear it from YOU/em/strong.br /
nbsp;br /
Are you being discipled? Jesusrsquo; ministry was all about investing in a few who in turn invested in a few and so on. Itrsquo;s so vital that if wersquo;re to grow as Christians that we have someone mentoring, challenging and investing in us. Itrsquo;s through this that we learn, grow and have a safe space to discover Godrsquo;s purpose for our lives. Have you looked at the emPray21/em stuff in this issue? Thatrsquo;s an ideal tool to get you growing.br /

strongemWhat now?/em/strongbr /
The challenge today is to look at your own discipleship both as a learner and a teacher. Who is alongside you? Who are you investing in? Have a serious think about starting Pray21, and check out a href="http://www.ucb.co.uk/pray21"www.ucb.co.uk/pray21/a/p
