This exciting opportunity will be to provide prayer, support, encouragement and development for our volunteer Prayerline satellites that are located across the UK.  You will need to be flexible, enjoy travelling, be well organised and able to prioritise a busy schedule. You will need excellent communication skills both written and verbal as a lot of your contact with our volunteers will be via electronic communication methods. 

It is essential that you are able to work on your own initiative while remaining an effective team player. You will need to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office enabling the collation of service level KPIs and reports, which monitors Prayerline’s effectiveness in line with UCBs Strategic Plan.

This is a fixed term project for three years, subject to funding.  The successful applicant will need a DBS check and medical confirmation that they are fit for work.

UCB is looking for an experienced broadcast journalist to join the News Team on a part time basis working 3 days per week at the Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 8RY.

UCB includes two Christian radio stations available on digital radio, online and the UCB Player app.  You will need a good voice for radio, an understanding of Broadcast Law, suitable journalistic experience and you will be expected to have a working knowledge of Christian organisations and Church activity in the UK and abroad.   

The role will involve news reading, recording/editing, reporting, two-way features with presenters and sourcing original stories for a range of radio programmes. You will also know how to utilise social media to communicate UCB News.   Your shift pattern may vary from week to week, working in conjunction with other colleagues, although your days of work will be fixed; there may also be the opportunity to work additional hours in order to provide cover for absences within the Team.

Your ability to write for radio needs to be excellent. You will need to demonstrate your experience of broadcast journalism and provide examples of original stories that you have generated.

You will be expected to adhere to United Christian Broadcasters’ vision and purpose and be a strong team player able to provide a distinctive service of news from a Christian perspective.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Training and Compliance Team for a part time Health & Safety Assistant, working 7.25 hours per week. You will be responsible for the administration of our Health and Safety systems across both of our sites in Burslem and Hanchurch, as well as undertaking regular H&S checks and tests.

The ideal candidate must be well organised and able to prioritise a busy work schedule, as well as use their initiative. Ideally you will already have some experience in operating Health & Safety systems; however, training will be provided.  It is essential to have good communication skills both verbal and written as you will liaise with staff, volunteers and contractors and you should be confident in the use of a computer. You must have a full driving licence as our site at Hanchurch is not serviced by regular public transport.

This is an exciting role to help reinforce the IT function within our growing charity.  The post holder will execute a variety of tasks including the extraction and preparation of data from our CRM database, executing regular and bespoke reporting requirements and investigating data issues within operational systems.

We are looking for someone who works well as part of a team and interacts effortlessly with others in order to resolve technical issues, so good communication and a strong customer focus is essential.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in computer science or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience; have excellent problem solving skills; good knowledge of SQL with experience of writing complex queries and the ability to understand complex business processes and how data relates to them.

Advantageous skills required; experience of Windows server and/or SQL server administration, web-services and data interface development.

This position is based at our Hanchurch site in Stoke-on-Trent but travel to our Burslem site will also be necessary.

Freelance Radio Presenter
Location: UCB Broadcast Centre, Hanchurch Lane, Hanchurch , Stoke-on-Trent , ST4 8RY

Are you a Christian with significant experience as a music format radio presenter?

UCB is always interested to hear from freelance presenters who could provide occasional cover for various shows on UCB 1 or UCB 2.
The role could involve presenting live weekday programmes but would certainly include recording programmes during the week, as required.

A genuine interest and working knowledge of contemporary Christian music is vital.

Experience of the Zetta playout system would be useful but not essential, as training would be given.

You will be expected to adhere to United Christian Broadcasters’ vision and purpose and be a willing team player with a positive attitude.

The Broadcast Centre is close to Stoke-on-Trent (ST4 8RY) so you would need your own transport.

UCB’s Broadcast Centre has a lively and busy ‘front-of-house’ Reception desk. Our receptionist takes calls, answers queries, greets guests and assists with other administrative jobs, such as looking after the post and responding to listener’s emails and texts. It’s a busy and rewarding role and we’re looking to build up a bank of casual receptionists, who can be called on at short notice, to cover holiday or sickness cover. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule and will be able to work at very short notice. If you’re a natural ‘people person’ and can easily multi-task in a busy environment, this could be the ideal flexible role for you. If selected, we will add you to our roster of staff who can be called on, when needed.

Want to meet new people and visit local churches in your area?  We might have the perfect volunteer position for you!  The UCB Church Engagement Team is looking for friendly and outgoing individuals, who can accompany UCB Ambassadors to speaking events in different regions across the UK and offer them support.  

Your responsibilities will include attending the event with one of our Ambassadors, setting up and running a UCB stand and helping to introduce UCB to lots of new people. 

The ideal volunteers will be people who are happy to offer their time at occasional weekend events (usually within reasonable travelling distance of their home), have access to a car and enjoy the challenge of chatting to new people.  As you’ll be setting up a UCB stand you will need to be reasonably fit and active. You may also be asked to pray for people, therefore it's a requirement that Church Engagement volunteers are committed Christians in good standing with a local church.   You'll be fully trained and supported and there is a budget for mileage and food expenses.

We are looking for someone who is well organised, computer literate and has good communication skills; both written and verbal. Any necessary training will be given.

Volunteer - Company Wide Positions
 
United Christian Broadcasters has some exciting opportunities for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about UCB and the work that we do. If you have a few hours to spare each week and want to get involved in helping advance God's Kingdom then we want to hear from you!

We currently have volunteer positions at both our Operations Centre in Burslem and Broadcasting Centre in Hanchurch. Our departments are diverse and require a range of people with different skills and abilities; you could be involved in tasks such as booking guests for a radio show, researching content for one of our publications, helping keep our buildings clean or packing material to be sent out to supporters.

We are looking for reliable volunteers who can contribute to the work of the ministry. If you have good communication skills, are well organised, reliable and can work independently or as a team player then come and get involved! Some roles will require volunteers who are computer literate or have good administration skills; whatever your abilities we would love to hear from you.
