UCB is looking for the right person to join the UCB News team as a newsreader/journalist based at the Broadcast Centre near Stoke-on-Trent.
If you are naturally inquisitive, passionate about sourcing accurate news stories and have the ability to present the news to a loyal, family-focused radio audience - you could be a perfect fit.
You’ll be compiling and reading bulletins of national and international news - including stories with a Christian dimension - as well as recording interviews, radio packages and delivering two-ways with presenters.
You’ll need strong written and verbal skills and be able to contribute to a variety of UCB’s platforms, including radio, social media and podcasts.
It’s important that you can tick these boxes:
- a dedicated Christian
- a passion for news and current affairs
- journalism experience
- a good voice for radio
- a grasp of UCB’s vision
- able to take up this full-time staff job
- able to provide appropriate references
- access to own transport (Hanchurch is not serviced by regular public transport)
- able to work different shifts based on a team rota
The UCB News team is based at the Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent (Postcode ST4 8RY) and this is where you would work.
Your hours in the News team, based on a planned rota, will vary from week to week. At the moment, the rota covers Monday to Friday, and this is likely to be extended to include some weekend working in the future.

Candidates selected to go forward for a second interview will be expected to come to the UCB Broadcast Centre in Stoke-on-Trent on Tuesday 17th August 2021, arriving for lunch at 12.30pm and then being interviewed separately during the afternoon.
Salary: £21,000 - £23,250 per annum (depending on experience) plus staff benefits
