God will help you
‘[Jesus] said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch…Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” So they…left everything and followed him’ (v.4-11 NIVUK).
Here are seven truths we need to learn: 1) Jesus will meet you where you are and help you. 2) When what you’re doing isn’t working, He’ll show you a better way. 3) Even if it doesn’t make sense at the time, do what He tells you. He always knows what’s best for you. 4) The success He has in mind for you is greater than anything you can imagine for yourself; 5) The way you’re doing things might not be the best way to accomplish what He has in mind for you, so be willing and open to changing how you do things; 6) When you experience His goodness, remember to give the thanks and glory to Him. 7) When you realise what He has in mind for you, you’ll be amazed! Don’t be afraid to set aside what you’re doing and follow His plan.
What Now?
Is there a task or project you’re involved in that just doesn’t seem to be going right? Today, ask God for His wisdom on it, and then be prepared to listen and follow His advice, even if it doesn’t make sense to you straight away.
