Find the key log
Think about a car starting a race. You’ve got to point it in the right direction first, yeah? Otherwise, the rest of the race you’ll be lagging behind. It’s the same with life. How you line up your approach dictates how the race goes. So, where are you starting from? You’re not trying to condemn yourself here. Instead, assessing yourself helps you to see how you can line up your approach to life better. When professional loggers discover a logjam, they climb a large tree near the river so they can look over the problem and find the cause. What they’re looking for is the ‘key log’ creating the jam. Once they remove that, the river takes care of the rest. An inexperienced person could spend hours, days, even weeks moving logs around without results. The point is we don’t necessarily need to change all our thinking – just the few items that keep us from having the right approach to life. Once we do, our lives will begin to flow in the right direction. So how can we discover the ‘key log’ that’s holding us back? Well, we need to think about how feel about ourselves, how we deal with others, and figure out which negative thoughts are constantly going through our minds. Once we figure out the problems, we can start trying to change things. And we don’t have to do this alone. God can show us the areas of our lives that need change and He walks the journey of transformation alongside us. All we need to do is ask for His help and be willing to make the changes He suggests.
What now?
Got some logs in your life that need moving? Ask God to help you start dealing with them today.
