It’s time
God has planned things for us to do for Him and His kingdom. The Bible says: ‘For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do’ (Ephesians 2:10 NIV). There’s no right age or experience level we have to reach before we can start fulfilling God’s purposes for our lives. Moses began his ministry when he was eighty. Esther started hers as a teenage girl. When Esther was called to save the Jewish people, her cousin Mordecai said: ‘Who knows, you may have been chosen queen for just such a time as this’ (NCV). Maybe we’ve been chosen for this time too. Maybe it’s our time to do the things God’s called us to do. We might worry that we’re not good enough or that we’re not ready, but if God wants to use us, He’ll equip and strengthen us. Sometimes it’s the right time for us to do something, but we’re so caught up in our lives that we miss it. We’re not aware that He wants to do something through us. We need to ask God to help us be focused on the ways He wants to use us in our everyday lives. But what happens if it’s not the right time? Before God uses us, He often takes us through a season of preparation and transformation, so we learn more about Him and about ourselves. He grows our faith and skills. He humbles us and shows us that we need to rely on Him. This can feel uncomfortable, especially if everyone around us seems to be doing amazing things for God. But it’s a necessary season to go through in order to make us ready for ‘such a time as this.’
What Now?
As you go through the day, ask God to help you be aware of the things He wants to do through you.
