Sleeper agents
Like a true MI6 genius, God has placed a whole host of sleeper agents in your life. Because He knows everything that we’ll need throughout our lifetime, He’s able to prepare it for us way ahead of time. What this means is there are resources and people around us now that may not mean too much to us in our current circumstances, but at some point, they are going to be vital to God’s plan unfolding in our lives. With God, everything makes sense. It may not make sense now, it may not even ever make sense until our minds are allowed to see from His heavenly perspective, but we can be fully assured that at some point, on earth or afterwards, it will all make sense. 1 Corinthians 13 tells us that ‘when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away…now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known’ (v.10;12 ESV). Sometimes to see fully we just need a shift in situation to alter our perspective. As things come right we can often start to see God’s hand in things, while, as Paul implies in Corinthians, sometimes it’s only when we see God face to face that we’ll understand certain things. Either way, though, He has it all under His control. If you’re going through difficulties, or have any sort of uncertainty, take heart knowing that the sleeper agents are already there, waiting for the whisper from God to move into action. He has already put every piece into place to turn any darkness into light.
What Now?
If you can, wrap up warm and head out to watch a sunrise in these last few days of Advent. Spend the time praying about anything that feels like darkness in your life at the moment, and thank God that He already has a plan in place.
