Heaven (3)

16 November 2016

When the Bible says to store up ‘riches in heaven’ for ourselves, we think they’re for way later. Like 90 years from now, dead-in-the-ground later. But what the Bible has to say about riches in heaven is very different. Say you heard that there was snow stored up in a cloud. You wouldn’t think ‘can’t wait to get up there and run around in all that snow!’ No, that would be weird. You’d look forward to the snow falling down to earth. It’s like that with God’s riches in heaven. They’re not being kept away for us to discover when we float away from earth. They’re God’s promises for our future on this earth. ‘Heaven’ simply means ‘the presence of God’. We’ll go there after this life, sure. But that store of promises in the presence of God are supposed to fall down to earth in this life. They’re for God’s will being done ‘on earth as in heaven’. That could be today, in thirty years, or when Jesus comes again. If you want to see backs healed, the poor given homes and hope, families restored, arts and culture giving energy and life - pray for the promises God has in His presence. Pray that they’d fall down to earth, soon. God’s planted hope for that in our hearts, and He waits for us to make good on it.

What now?
What prophetic words have been spoken over you? Got any in notepads, even from years ago? Ask God to land them in your life as soon as.
