When you think of all the dangers and harmful things in the natural world around us, it’s a miracle that we’re still alive. But it's another proof that we’re safe in God’s hands. All kinds of meteorites from outer space are constantly falling on our planet. But God put a protective atmosphere around earth, which burns up things that try to get through it. The atmosphere also protects us from harmful radiation. God designed the ozone layer so it filters out all the harmful rays but lets through just the right amount of the ones we need. The carbon dioxide we breathe out would eventually poison us if it stayed in the air. But God created plants that remove it from the air and turn it into oxygen. There isn't a single harmful thing that's bigger or more powerful than God. He can find a solution to every problem we face, and we're completely dependent on His goodness. That's why the psalmist wrote ‘All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things’ (Psalm 104:27-28). We can rest totally confident in His power and protection. Whatever challenges we're facing, none of them are too big for God to handle, so whenever we ask for His help, we can trust Him to work everything out for our good.

What Now?
Choose a prayer you know well (The Lord’s Prayer is a good one to use). Each time you take a breath, say a line of the prayer aloud or in your head. As you follow the rhythm of your breathing, become aware of God’s power as you draw closer to Him with each breath.
