God designed the earth perfectly, to keep us alive by providing for us and meeting our basic everyday needs. He knew exactly what we required. He worked it all out so flawlessly that if there was even a small variation, we couldn't survive. If the earth was 10 percent larger or smaller, life as we know it wouldn't be possible. If we were any nearer to the sun, or further away from it, we couldn't cope with the temperature. Ours is the only planet in the solar system that’s tilted at an angle that lets the sun touch all parts of it over a year, which stops it getting too hot or cold. Just like an excited parent designing a room for the arrival of their newborn baby, God made this earth especially for us. ‘For this is what the LORD says - he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited’ (v. 18 NIV). That’s how much God cares for us. He built our incredible earth from nothing, using His infinite power, to provide for us. And He’s still doing that today - every time we bring our prayers, our joys and our fears to God, we can trust that He’ll provide whatever we need. He knows exactly what’s best for us now, just as He did when He created the earth for us.

What Now?
Get together with a friend and grab some paper and coloured pens. Design what you think would be the ideal bedroom/kitchen/house for each other, and then share your designs. When you’re done, spend time thanking God for the way He designed the world just for us.
