Put Yourself in the Line of Fire

01 September 2016

pBefore you were born, ‘every day of [your] life was recorded… Every moment… laid out before a single day had passed’ (Psalm 139:16 NLT). Obviously that sounds pretty appealing and you’ll want to get in on that. Like the bit in Back to the Future II where Marty jumps forwards in time and sees his own future: the idea of connecting ourselves with the road map of our own future is going to get our attention.br /
So why don’t we have those kinds of chats with God more often? It’s probably because God cares more about relationship than schedule. Look up today’s verse, Ephesians 1:11, in your Bible. It starts with the most important bit. That God has chosen you. And then it goes into the details. Relationship comes first. Then, purpose comes in its wake. So, when we come to God, that’s how it’ll go. If you want to make sure you’re on the right path for your future, first get yourself closer to God in relationship. Protect those prayer times. Pursue God. Learn how you connect with God - how do you pray best? Where? Do those things. And as you do them, you’ll get yourself in the line of fire of His will. You’ll find that ‘the Lord directs the steps of the godly.’ (Psalm 37:23 NLT). You’ll see that God clears ‘the way for me, and now I won’t stumble’ (Psalm 18:36 CEV). And as you ‘seek his will in all you do…he will show you which path to take’. (Proverbs 3:6 NLT). /p
pWhat now?br /
If you’ve been making time to draw closer to God recently, try asking Him for some directions for your future./p
