Straight And Narrow
pThere’s quite a bit of talk in the Bible about the ‘narrow path’ and entering through the ‘narrow gate’ (Matthew 7:13-14). And Proverbs 3:6 lets us know that by submitting to God, our path will be made straight. What does that mean? Well, God knows what He wants for us. He wants to help place us on the best possible paths that our lives could follow. Which puts the ball in our court really. With God’s wants, and His plan there for us, it’s left up to us to make the decision to ask Him to reign over our desires, our goals, our hopes, our decisions. Proverbs tells us that when we live like that, He’ll straighten out the life-path ahead of us. He’ll make it clear, step by step, where we’re going. Even though the paths and gates to heaven may be ‘narrow’, as we learn in Matthew, God’s guidance makes them walkable. So, when you come up against a tough decision, a challenge, or anything that creates a bump in that path, God will smooth it out, for you to move forward with Him. Psalm 91:11-12 knows what’s up. It says God ‘will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, that you do not strike your foot against a stone’ (NASB). Whoa./p
pWhat now?br /
Make two lines of stuff on your floor, with things that represent what’s important to you - pics of friends, work-stuff, family relics, etc. Leave a narrow space between them. Walk between the lines a couple of times, praying that each thing represented there will be put under God’s control, finding its right place on His plan-path./p
