Lifespans Of The Rich And Famous
pTake a look at Psalm 39:4-7. It sounds a lot like David’s hit a pessimistic speed-bump in his psalm writing. His life is just a moment, a breath, a tiny speck of insignificance. Is that true? People have a lot to them. It’s hard to see our fellow-human-beings as a shadow that ‘ends in nothing’ (v. 6 NLT), right? The Hollywood big-shots. Those you look up to in your personal life, or on the news. Even the stage at *name a Christian conference*. People make a difference.br /
The thing is, however huge an impact we make, we’re only here in the short-term. The span in which we live our lives is insanely small in comparison to eternity. All the hard work and effort we put in on earth will heap up to not-a-lot, unless it helps point people to God. How can we do that? Go to the only One who brought us to eternity in the first place. By giving our efforts over to the God who gave everything for us, He’ll show us how we can use everything to bless Him and others. Our good ideas, our fears, our work/study life, even our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9). Without God, we can only stay within the bounds of this earth and everything that comes with being imperfect./p
pWhat now?br /
Ask yourself today’s title verse… ‘Where do I put my hope?’ That will, naturally, be in a whole bunch of things, as well as God. So let’s get that straight. Spend time going through each thing that you put hope in, committing it to God, and asking Him to be in it. Ask Him to re-direct all of your hope to Himself./p
