Responsible
pWe’ve all got responsibility. Whether you’ve moved from putting chairs away on Sunday to chief stacking coordinator, or you’re doing something that puts you in the limelight. Oh, and if you aren’t carrying huge responsibility yet, cool. They still apply to you. Representing Christ here-and-now is a responsibility that we’ve all got. What are our top tips for handling that? Thanks for asking. Here are one or two that focus on our hearts, rather than ‘how to lead people really well’. First up. Carry your load - chances are, that if you aren’t grateful for what God’s given you *right now*, you won’t be satisfied with stuff to come either. We’ll always compare ourselves to others who get more attention, thanks, hugs, and likes on Facebook. Looking at others’ responsibilities and successes without focusing on our own causes envy. Want to avoid that? Take Paul’s advice in Galatians 6. In verse five, he says ‘each one should carry their own load’ (NIV). God’s given you a place to serve, so own it. Then, second. Share your burden - if you’ve found yourself in a position where people look up to you, even if they’re looking up at you as ‘that Christian they know’, pride in our own goodness can be tempting. Which is normal; Satan even tried to tempt Jesus with pride (Matthew 4:1-11). But Jesus knew that ‘with the humble is wisdom’ (Proverbs 11:2 ESV). As well as ‘carrying your load’, Paul wrote that we need to ‘bear one another’s burdens’ (Galatians 6:2 ESV) - things like pride, lust, and envy can start to creep in when we think we’re sorted./p

You’re not untouchable. Share what burdens you, with someone that you trust, today. Tricky conversations are worth it./p
