Smart Service

03 February 2016

pGod has given each of us different lives, capacities, and work rates. Some of us are able to pick up one extra responsibility a week. Some of us are asked/called/drawn/able to pick up four or five. Sometimes, we’re at a place in life where we’re not able to take on anything. And there’s nothing shameful about that. We’re lucky (scratch that, immensely blessed) to have a God who looks at, and judges us, by our hearts, and not by how much we *do*. It’s important to know that, right deep down to your core. Without being confident in that, we can end up serving out of guilt, or pressure, or even feeling like we should act like a ‘good Christian’ to earn God’s smile. None of those things are healthy, or are real obedience to God. None of those things take into account what Jesus died for (that’s you, btw). To put it simply, each one of us has a right place where we’re meant to serve. And that looks different, with different levels of ‘intense’, for each of us. When we spend time asking for that, and faithfully respond to our calling, we’ll find the balance that we were created to live in, gladly, passionately doing what God created us to do. The key is listening to God and asking Him what He wants you to do, not to second guess Him by picking up every responsibility you can, and waiting to see what falls over./p
pWhat now?br /
Ask God to speak to you about where you’re called to serve, this week. Even if it’s not sledgehammer obvious, chances are, He will./p
