Roots In High Places
pWhen we’ve got a ton of responsibilities on our hands, there’ll always be that one assessment we forgot about, or maybe that one friendship that blows up out of the blue. How can we get through? Searching for advice from godly church elders, magazine articles, or knowledgeable bloggers? Any of these would be useful, and probably provide some good tips on how to de-stress. But are they going to hit the root of the issue? Yeah, probably not.br /
For the short term, human advice will tide you over for a few days, but wouldn’t a persistent peace be even better than that? Hmmm. Wonder how we could possibly have access to that? Bonus points for those who answered ‘God’. ‘And after he had dismissed the crowds, he [Jesus] went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone’ (Matthew 14:23 ESV). Jesus understood that when life got stressful and hectic, the best thing to do was spend time with His Father. Because when you do that, you experience the ‘peace of God, which transcends all understanding’ (Philippians 4:7 NIV). Jesus knew that taking Himself away from the people, problems, and situations just to *be* with God is vital. To understand it better, have a read of Isaiah 40 for a whole tent-load of promises that God has for you. Going to the one ‘Who created all the stars’ (v. 26 NLT) and putting your peace-roots down in Him will bless you more than anything else./p
pWhat now?br /
Read Isaiah 40. Then, if you’re in the middle of stuff falling apart, go somewhere alone and pray for God’s persistent peace to be with you./p
