Worry Warp (3)
‘Outside were conflicts, inside were fears. Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus’ (2 Corinthians 7:5-6 NKJV). Those couple of verses resonate with those times that you feel like anxieties are hammering on the walls. Conflict around us, fear within us, right? Also relevant, though, is that God sends help. Say it again. God. Sends. Help. In this case, it comes in the form of a good, solid friend, Titus. Often, that happens. God sends His people to get alongside those of us who feel weighed down at the time.
But. Maybe that’s not quite there yet for you. Let’s take this back a step. Even if you *do* have a good friend to talk to, the one person we should really be honest with before we can move on is ourselves. Don’t wait until you’re visiting a doctor to consider whether you’re struggling with anxiety, or lots of life-worries. They can often ruin our ability to live the way we’re supposed to: with joy, peace, and with God in full control (see John 3:30). Be honest with yourself. It’s 100% worth it.
Then what? The next step is to tell someone, eeeven if you feel embarrassed to (and trust us, it’s not something to be embarrassed about). An older/wise/trustworthy Christian will not humiliate your battle with anxiety, even if it’s a small one. Check back to today’s verse. God knows our needs, and His Church (every one of His followers, that is), can meet those needs.
What Now?
If this strikes a chord with you, chat again to your trusted someone. Can you get extra help? The rest of us: pray for that help for those who need it.
