Pipe Up
You’re a pipe. No, go with it. You’re like a pipe, and God’s love, grace, power, presence, is supposed to be flowing through you to the world around you. But pipes get blocked. There’s stuff in your life, big and little, that’s suffocating your capacity to let God pour His amazingness through you. Your mind may go straight to ‘bad behaviour’ here, and, yep, the things that we call sin are part of what blocks us up. But it’s not quite as simple as just that. Actually, stuff like stress, fear, unwillingness for whatever reason… they all add to the gunk that’s filling us up and, as a consequence, tighten the diameter of our tube even more. It’s like God’s saying ‘I have all of this, that I want to pour into you’, and we shrug a response of ‘yeah, but I have all of this *stuff* and… I just don’t have the space’.
Now, this isn’t a telling off. We get it. Life clogs us up. We’re with you. We just think that it’s so worth us figuring out, together, how to stop life-stuff limiting the amount of space that we’re able to offer to our Father. Ephesians 3:14-21 is all about figuring that out. It’s actually probably the best guide-prayer that anyone could give. It’s about asking. It’s about remembering. It’s about making a little space, to ask for more space - more space in your heart, your life, your ‘pipe’, to let God absolutely flood you, and then the world around you, with Himself.
What Now?
Grab a Christian buddy, and take some time to both kneel before God. Take turns to read Ephesians 3:14-21 out loud over each other, as a prayer.
