Blessed

27 January 2018
‘God…has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.’

When we’re going through challenging times, it can be difficult to see the blessings we have. Our mind can become so focused on the darkness that we struggle to see the light. But the truth is, however bad our situation may seem, we’re still blessed, and there are still blessings to come. The Bible says God ‘has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.’ And that’s the truth, no matter what things look like for us right now. When we’re facing tough times, we’ve got the blessing of God’s presence with us. ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the river, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze’ (Isaiah 43:2 NIV). And when we come out the other side of the trial, we are brought to a place of blessing. ‘We went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance’ (Psalm 66:12 NIV). But when we’re brought into the blessing, we must remember where the blessing came from. It’s from God and we should thank Him for it. The Bible says: ‘When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you’ (Deuteronomy 8:10 NIV). Wherever we find ourselves today, let’s remember the promise to the Israelites. ‘For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land’ (Deuteronomy 8:7 NIV). There are blessings during the trial, and blessings after. We’ve got to choose to look expectantly for them.

What Now?

If you feel like you’re going through a really tough time, write down Psalm 66:12 and say it out loud every day until you’ve reached the place of abundance.
