Pray God’s Word

17 August 2022
‘Make me strong as you have promised.’

Prayer changes things. And when we use the Bible and Scripture as the starting point for our prayers, powerful things happen. God moves into action, and our prayers actually begin to change us! When you pray God’s Word, this is what happens: 1) Your faith increases and enables you to receive more of what God has promised. 2) Your mind is renewed, which helps you to see things differently, from God’s perspective. 3) You begin to know God’s perfect will. 4) You walk in the truth of God’s Word. 5) You grow in spiritual maturity. 6) You draw nearer to God and develop a closer, stronger relationship with Him. 7) You learn God’s ways, and eventually they become your ways. 8) You understand God’s answers to your prayers. 9) You change in positive ways. 10) You see who is the centre of the Bible – Jesus.

Here are some examples of Scriptures you can pray: ‘Open my eyes to see the miracles of your teachings’ (v.18 NCV). ‘Teach me your demands. Help me understand your orders. Then I will think about your miracles’ (v.26-27 NCV). ‘Make me strong as you have promised’ (v.28 NCV). ‘How I love your teachings! I think about them all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, because they are mine forever.’ (v.97-98 NCV). ‘Get away from me, you who do evil, so I can keep my God’s commands. Support me as you promised so I can live. Don’t let me be embarrassed because of my hopes’ (v.115-116 NCV). ‘Help me understand so I can live’ (v.144 NCV). Today, try praying God’s Word.
