‘Seize life!...Each day is God’s gift...Make the most of each one!’ (vv.7-10 MSG). Are you waiting for something to happen before you can say that your life has truly begun? Are you waiting for a relationship? To graduate? To get a job? These things can all be great events in your life, but your life is happening right now too. We can all fall into the trap of thinking ‘I’ll be happy when…’ But the truth is we can be happy and contented with life right now. Each day is another piece of the puzzle of your life. Sometimes those pieces can seem pretty unexciting, maybe even scary, but we can still enjoy them knowing that God’s right there with us through it all: the mundane and the exciting, the good and the bad. Society tells us that we need more, or even need to be more, before we can be happy with life. Let’s be counter-cultural. Let’s be people who are not just focused on our future, whether that’s through fear of it or longing for it. Let’s be a generation who lives in the moment, knowing that whatever that moment is bringing, God is there experiencing it alongside us and can use it all for good. We’ve all heard the (now pretty old) phrase, YOLO: maybe it’s a useful way of thinking about this. It’s not about living recklessly because you only live once. Instead it’s about living purposefully, thankfully and contentedly no matter what comes our way - because it’s true, we do only live once, on earth at least. Let’s make the most of each day God gifts us with.

At random moments through the day, take a minute to tune into God and bask in His presence. Thank Him for what He’s doing, right in that moment.
