Five All-Important Answers

25 September 2016

In Romans 8, Paul asks a lot of questions. These are questions with big, significant and life-changing answers. 1) ‘If God is for us, who can ever be against us?’ While this doesn’t mean that nothing bad will happen to us, it does mean that if we’re believers, God’s on our side and that we can trust that His goodness wins in the end. 2) ‘Since [God] did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t [God]…give us everything else?’ (v. 32 NLT). God doesn’t expect you to do life by yourself. He is interested in every part of your life, the eternal and the earthly. He promises to provide what we need. 3) ‘Who dares accuse us…? No one - for God himself has given us right standing with himself’ (v. 33 NLT). We can face accusation and rejection from other people. We even face it from ourselves. But we know that God accepts us, just as we are, because He sees us in the light of Jesus’ death. 4) ‘Who then will condemn us?…Christ Jesus died for us…he is sitting in the place of honour at God’s right hand, pleading for us’ (v. 34 NLT). His blood covers us, protecting us from anyone who tries to judge us. 5) ‘Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?’ (v. 35 NLT). The answer? ‘…nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (v. 39 NLT).

What Now?
When you feel yourself starting to doubt God’s love, acceptance or goodness towards you, remind yourself of these truths.
