UCB’s two national radio stations provide a distinctive choice for listeners. UCB 1 plays today’s Christian hits and features conversation about current affairs that reaches out to anyone trying to make sense of the world around us. UCB 2 features praise and worship music and much more – with Bible-based teaching and encouragement for every Christian.

UCB is looking to appoint someone with a passion for constantly monitoring and improving the sound and quality of each station, especially the imaging, spots and promos.

You will have an understanding of how music format radio works and have a creative drive that wants UCB radio to be the best it can be.

You will have the opportunity to develop ideas that will keep the stations sounding fresh and engaging.

Another key part of the role is to ensure that radio programmes are correctly scheduled in advance, working to the Radio Scheduling & Project Co-ordinator.

This will require an attention-to-detail and quality-control approach, using the Playout software. The role is part-time, on weekdays (with details to be agreed).

Donor Development Data Co-ordinator

This is an exciting and challenging role within the Communications Department as it is the main internal point of contact for all data related enquiries within the team. This position oversees and implements all aspects of data management for the Direct Mail Programme, ensuring data accuracy, resolving mailing queries and running standard automated reports. In addition this role is the main data contact for the external print supplier.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills, liaising with other internal stakeholders in respect of data management for digital fundraising, including email data management. This will be a real opportunity to shape how the department uses data by turning data insights into actionable recommendations.

We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic professional with experience in data management, with the ability to work on multiple projects to tight deadlines. You will need to demonstrate how to apply selection and query logic to CRM databases and have an appreciation of SQL query language. You will need strong analytical skills in order to respond to requested changes, be methodical and structured in your approach and have good problem solving skills. You will need to be a proactive team player who can also work confidently independently and have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and deliver to a high standard.

This position is based at our Burslem site in Stoke-on-Trent but travel to our Hanchurch site will also be necessary.

Receptionists (Casual basis only)

UCB’s Broadcast Centre has a lively and busy ‘front-of-house’ Reception desk. Our receptionist takes calls, answers queries, greets guests and assists with other administrative jobs, such as looking after the post and responding to listener’s emails and texts. It’s a busy and rewarding role and we’re looking to build up a bank of casual receptionists, who can be called on at short notice, to cover holiday or sickness cover. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule and will be able to work at very short notice. If you’re a natural ‘people person’ and can easily multi-task in a busy environment, this could be the ideal flexible role for you. If selected, we will add you to our roster of staff who can be called on, when needed.

Freelance Radio Presenter

Location: Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent

Are you a Christian with experience as a radio presenter?

UCB is always interested to hear from freelance presenters who could provide occasional cover for various programmes on UCB 1 and UCB 2.

The role would involve presenting live programmes – usually midweek – and may also include recording other programmes and promotional spots.

A genuine interest and working knowledge of contemporary Christian music is important.

Experience of playout systems, such as Zetta, would be invaluable.

The Broadcast Centre is close to Stoke-on-Trent (ST4 8RY) and you would need your own transport.

You will need to illustrate your track record and provide a suitable showreel, along with your CV.

Broadcast Volunteer – UCB 2 Morning Show

UCB is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to support the presenter/producer for the UCB 2 Morning Show. The successful volunteer will need good organisational skills, good communication skills, both written and verbal, using both telephone and email, and an eye for a good feature.

You will get the chance to experience a diverse workload helping to contribute to the show, including sourcing and contacting guests and helping find features. If you enjoy talking to people on the phone and in person and can use a computer to keep organised, we’d love to hear from you.

The UCB Marketing team have a full time voluntary opening, for a Graphic Designer.

The team works across all departments of UCB so one moment you could be designing a devotional content the next taking pictures of a dancing man-horse for social media or inspiring the masses with inspiring cutting-edge designs. We are Jesus loving, fast talking, quick moving, cool hunting and always ready for a coffee, so if pretty things, fancy packaging, lovely paper stocks or bright colours get your motor running and you have time on your hands or need a leg up, then this position could be for you.

We’re looking for someone who can design and create beautiful elements of UCBs output, from printed literature to identities for UCB TV programmes. Volunteer Social Media Content Developer

Want to change the world through Social Media? If you love following a story, growing a hashtag or finding the latest and greatest ways to share what’s going on, then this could be the role for you.

The UCB Social Media team have a full time opening, for a Social Media Content Developer. The Social Media team works to produce, share and respond to great content. We’re all about good conversation, so if you love talking to new people, coming up with clever ideas and just generally having your finger on the pulse, then you could be the one we’re looking for.

Community management and a creative spark come hand in hand in this role. You’ll need to be able to write and source content for lots of different social media platforms. You’ll be ready to chat to people about all the great stuff UCB has to offer, and you’ll be willing to point them in the right direction when they have questions. Whether it’s a promotional post for one of our events, or creating an opportunity for people to get in touch with us about what’s on air, you’ll need to come bursting with ideas and original concepts.

Broadcast Volunteer - Morning Show

We are looking for a volunteer to help plan and produce of the morning radio show on UCB1. You could be helping to: book interviews, research stories, write links for the show, devise competitions, prepare, edit & load interviews, update twitter, provide online content, write news stories and maintain essential records. The opportunity to interact with listeners means good verbal and written communication skills are essential, as are good administrative skills.

Broadcast Fundraising Volunteer Placement

Would you like to be part of a well-established Christian Media Ministry and charity that broadcasts the Gospel of Jesus? Are you a recent graduate or an undergraduate looking for industry placement? Then you could be just who we are looking for to help us resource our ministry.
 
We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer who will utilise all of our media platforms (radio, TV, social media, website) to engage with our readers, listeners and viewers, ensuring that all messaging is consistent with our fundraising appeals. You must therefore have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and enjoy the challenge of working alongside numerous different departments.
 
Ideally you will educated to degree level or working towards a degree; preferably within a related field of Media, Communications, Management, Marketing, English, Business Studies or Creative Writing.
 
If you are prepared to give us 12 months of your time then we will provide you with an opportunity to learn from our experienced staff, observe first-hand how a media organisation operates, hone your transferrable skills and strengthen your walk with God.

Prayerline Volunteers

There are various ways which you can help by volunteering for Prayerline:

Telephone Operator: By joining one of our satellite groups positioned around the UK you can assist us by praying for those who ring with prayer requests over the telephone. Prayerline is a confidential telephone ministry which does not offer counselling or advice but simply prayer. You will need to be able to listen, pray and use the Bible to minister to the caller and cope with the demands that can come with that. We receive all types of calls and they are all logged in brief, the more serious calls have to be documented in full which means you will need to be fully literate and have a reasonable command of English. Full training will be given. We try to offer our volunteers a satellite as logistically close to them as possible, if this is not possible would you consider starting a satellite in your area?

Mail Prayer Requests: Prayer requests would be posted to you for you to pray over. No written responses would be required from you. This does not necessitate any direct contact with the person requesting prayer. This work would be carried out in your home.

Email Prayer Requests: Prayer requests would be sent to you via an automated service for which you need a computer with broadband connectivity. No written responses would be required from you. This does not necessitate any direct contact with the person requesting prayer. This work would be carried out in your home.

United Christian Broadcasters has some exciting opportunities for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about UCB and the work that we do. If you have a few hours to spare each week and want to get involved in helping advance God's Kingdom then we want to hear from you!
 
We currently have volunteer positions at both our Operations Centre in Burslem and Broadcasting Centre in Hanchurch. Our departments are diverse and require a range of people with different skills and abilities; you could be involved in tasks such as booking guests for a radio show, researching content for one of our publications, helping keep our buildings clean or packing material to be sent out to supporters.
 
We are looking for reliable volunteers who can contribute to the work of the charity. If you have good communication skills, are well organised, reliable and can work independently or as a team player then come and get involved! Some roles will require volunteers who are computer literate or have good administration skills; whatever your abilities we would love to hear from you.
