Mountain-mover
Jesus said: ‘I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.’ Jesus isn’t talking about physical mountains, He’s talking about the problems we face in life. Some problems we face can feel like insurmountable mountains. We can’t face climbing them, and we can’t see a way round them. We become stuck, with our ‘mountain’ obstructing our view of everything ahead. But with God, there’s no mountain too big to be moved. There’s no problem too overwhelming to be solved. He has overcome the biggest mountain of all, death. And through Him we can also overcome. The Bible says: ‘We are more than conquerors through him who loved us’ (Romans 8:37 NIV). So how can we stop doubting and start trusting that with God we can overcome any mountain in our path? We need to be speaking out God’s Word. When we declare His truth, our minds are renewed, our focus is changed, and faith begins to rise up within us. And when we hold that position of faith, and keep speaking God’s Word, the mountains in our lives start to shift. If we keep focusing on the problems in front of us, start asking ‘why me?’, or let fear and negativity rule our minds and mouths, the mountain will keep standing like an immovable object. But when we stand on God’s promises and declare that anything can be overcome in the name of Jesus, our mountain will move and we’ll experience victory for His glory.
What Now?
Draw a picture of a mountain and write the problem you’re facing in it (you could do this multiple times if you’re facing a few issues all at once). Then write in a different colour over the top: ‘I am more than a conqueror through Christ’.
