God’s promises
All through the Bible, we can see God’s promises. And those promises apply to us too. Whatever God has promised will be fulfilled in our lives. He is faithful, and never breaks a promise. Sometimes it can be tough waiting for God’s promises to be fulfilled. But if He’s promised something, it will happen. We need to have patience and perseverance to keep trusting and waiting when things aren’t happening as quickly as we want them to be. Even when suffering comes, we need to persevere and believe in the promise of an eternal life, where there will be no suffering. The Bible says: ‘So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised’ (Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV). We need to remain confident that God will fulfil His commitments to us. When Moses died, Joshua took over. God promised him: ‘No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you’ (Joshua 1:5 NIV). And God promises to never leave us either. We’re not promised an easy and challenge-free life. But we are promised that He’ll be with us whatever comes and that He’ll work all things for good. The Bible says: ‘For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.’ Through Jesus, all of God’s promises are there for us. And we need to agree with them. Let’s believe that we’re good enough for His promises to be true for us.
