Thoughts about the Bible (2)
Heaven is the highest court, and when it rules on something, it’s settled once and for all. God’s Word is a settled issue in heaven. Jesus said, ‘Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away’ (Mark 13:31 NKJV). The Bible never needs updating; it’s perfect and can’t be improved on. That’s why Jesus says to let His ‘words remain in you’ (John 15:7 NIV). In other words, program your mind with the Scriptures. So, how can we do that?
1) Give it a permanent home in your heart and mind, not just visitor status. ‘Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly’ (Colossians 3:16 KJV). Take it in richly – in other words, plentifully and abundantly. Let it saturate you. Read the Bible, meditate on it, speak it out loud, sing its words; the Bible tells us, ‘Teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs’ (v.16 TLB).
2) Keep it with you all the time. ‘Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night…do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful’ (Joshua 1:8 NIV). Talk it out, think it out, walk it out! We’re blessed to be able to easily carry the Bible with us at all times on our phones. Let’s use that advantage and read it regularly. When God reminds you of a verse or a story, look it up straight away and think about what He’s trying to say to you. The more we meditate on God’s Word, the more the Holy Spirit will reveal about it.
