Leaving a legacy to Jesus

Your choice today could change lives tomorrow…

Read the story of Rene Thompson,

who lived to the incredible age of 105 and had left a gift in her will to UCB.

Rene was born in 1913 and was brought up in Devonport, Plymouth. She was born within a family of eight and brought up in the church. They had a simple life. They loved the garden and spending time together at home.

During the war Rene served for a time working in a shop packing up food parcels.

Rene and one of her brothers never married, and they lived together up until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and his care became too demanding for her, at which point he had to be admitted into a home.

She loved to sing and play the piano, and one of her favourites was ‘Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus’. Rene was also involved in the church her whole life. She worshipped at Elim Church and was involved in the Salvation Army.

She was a generous giver too; if there was anybody on hard times, she used to help out.

In 2019 at the age of 105, Rene went to meet her Lord. It was only when she passed that the family discovered the many Christian organisations she had remembered in her will,

of which UCB was one. Rene’s Christian belief was her main thing right to the end. She was just a worshipper all her life.

Leaving a legacy makes such an impact

It’s amazing to think how the small things we do in life can make such a huge difference.

By Rene leaving a legacy in her will, UCB is being equipped to reach future generations with God’s Word, ensuring that our children (and their children) will be able to hear the gospel in the UK.

UCB depends wholly on your generosity to produce the UCB Word For Today, Christian Radio, Prayerline, and so much more.

And leaving a legacy gift in your will to charity has never been easier. As we have recently celebrated our 35th anniversary, we have chosen for a limited period to

partner with one of the UK's leading charity will writing services to offer our supporters the chance to write their UK wills free of charge.

It can take less than 30 minutes to write your will, and it can be done from the comfort of your own home.
