Do you avidly follow the day’s national and international news and want to hear a fresh perspective on current affairs issues?

Are you considering training as a broadcast journalist within a Christian media organisation that cares about how news is reported?

United Christian Broadcasters wants to provide a 12-month training opportunity to an individual whose ambition is to become a journalist and work in a newsroom covering national and international news and current affairs.

Supported by a team of experienced Christian broadcast journalists and producers, you will study and learn on the job. This will include researching, writing for radio / online / social media, recording and editing radio interviews, applying media law and the Ofcom Broadcasting Code, and developing your presentation skills for news bulletins and broadcast reporting. You will be based full time at the UCB Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent (Postcode ST4 8RY).

You will need to be a committed Christian, with your own personal transport to get to/from the UCB Broadcast Centre, and you must live within reasonable commuting distance.

Your application will only be considered if you can tick these boxes, you:

  • have emailed hr@ucb.co.uk an MP3 audio recording of you pitching an original news idea appropriate for UCB News on UCB 1, UCB 2 or the UCB Player app (maximum duration 3 minutes)
  • are a committed Christian who’s connected to a church
  • can demonstrate genuine knowledge and understanding of news and current affairs
  • are able to work Monday to Friday, with some weekend working as required (this will be made up of different shifts between the hours of 6am-6pm)
  • are available for interview on the morning of Monday 29th April 2024 at the UCB Broadcast Centre

Freelance Radio Presenter
Location: Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent Application Deadline: 30/06/2024

Are you an experienced radio presenter looking for the opportunity to bring your Christian faith into your work in a more overt way?

Are you an experienced communicator and believe God is prompting you towards radio?

UCB 2 is currently looking for freelance presenters who could provide live or recorded cover for various shows.

UCB 2 is committed to being “The home of hope and worship” so as well as a genuine interest in Christian music, you will need to be comfortable sharing messages of faith and praying on air as part of your content.

The role would involve live programmes from our Broadcast Centre in Stoke-on-Trent or/also recording programmes as required from your home studio. Although experience of the Zetta playout system would be useful, it is not essential as training would be given.

You will be expected to adhere to United Christian Broadcasters’ vision and purpose and be a willing team player with a positive attitude.

The Broadcast Centre is close to Stoke-on-Trent (ST4 8RY) so you would need your own transport.

The Kingdom Academy is embarking on the development of exciting training opportunities for staff, volunteers, our European Affiliates and the wider Church.  We are looking to appoint a volunteer who is enthusiastic about the growth and ongoing training of others within God’s Kingdom.

You must be a gifted communicator as you will be expected to liaise with internal and external customers. You should have excellent organisational skills; someone who enjoys the variety of a wide-ranging role and can quickly adapt to the diversity of functions while offering a willing smile, professional service and calm composure.  This administration role will require you to be computer literate with the ability to maintain our training database and update spreadsheets, so you will need a keen eye for detail.

This is a small, but busy team, with a big vision.  If you can offer us at least one day per week to help support our administrative function, we would love to hear from you.

Want to volunteer from the comfort of your own home?  We might have the perfect volunteer position for you!  The UCB Prayerline Team is looking for friendly individuals, to join the team.

As a Postal or email prayer volunteer your responsibilities will include praying over prayer requests that have been sent into Prayerline via post or email. As a postal prayer volunteer, requests would be posted out to you as received and would require no written response or direct contact with the person requesting prayer.

As an email prayer volunteer, prayer requests would be sent to you via an automated service for which you would need a computer connected to the internet. Again, no written response or direct contact with the person requesting prayer would be required but you would be required to send monthly statistics to our head office.

Join a buzzing atmosphere during the UCB Radio Appeal!

UCB is a vibrant Christian charity that runs two national Christian radio stations, a free Prayerline phone service, and the UCB Word For Today (one of the largest free Christian devotionals in the UK). All of these incredible resources are funded fully by our amazing supporters.

The Appeal: For a week in March 2024, UCB Radio invites its listeners to join together for a special 5-day Appeal. During this week, we share encouraging testimonies from those whose lives have been impacted by God through UCB, and we invite listeners to help CONTINUE changing lives by sowing financially into UCB’s Christian resources.

The Role: The phones are busy with our generous supporters calling in to give, so we need YOUR help! Appeal volunteers will have the opportunity to speak to our lovely callers by answering the donation line, processing donations, and thanking callers for their gifts. Based in our offices here in Stoke-on-Trent, you will have full support while on the phones, with a relaxed and friendly Appeal Team (made up of staff and other volunteers) by your side.

If you would like to spend a few hours enjoying the fun and energy of our Appeal week, have a good clear telephone voice, and are able to record data accurately, then please apply to come and join us!

We will provide all the training and support you’ll need to make it a fun and rewarding experience. For more information, please see the role description on our website.

This position will be based at our offices in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. The next appeal week runs from Monday 4th to Friday 8th March 2024 and we ask that volunteers sign up to a minimum of 5 hours across the week. Food and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers.

No cold calling, no sales – inbound calls only. Would suit anyone with open availability during standard weekday working hours.

We run appeals 3 times a year as well as other opportunities available at UCB that may be of interest.

Profile: If you’re a Christian, there’s nothing more exciting than sharing God’s Word, and in today’s digital and social world, we have so many opportunities to reach kids and young people with the truth of Jesus, meeting them exactly where they are. If you’re passionate about sharing the gospel with young people, UCB is looking for volunteer content creators to help us shape a new resource which is designed to help under 16’s engage with the Bible in a vibrant way.

Hours: We’re looking for volunteers to commit to being involved regularly – anything from 2 – 10 hours per month. Whatever you are able to offer.

Tasks include

  • Working alongside our PR & Marketing team, along with other content creators, you’ll be helping to create and develop exciting Bible-based content for young people, based on a range of relevant topics
  • Depending on skillset, developing video, audio and graphic based content
  • Brainstorm with the wider team on new content and content ideas so we can keep things fresh and relevant

What we’re looking for…

  • You need to be a Christian with a living faith and a good understanding of the Bible and biblical themes
  • We’re looking for people from all-ages from 18+ who have the confidence and ability to connect with young people on digital and social platforms
  • Good knowledge of social media and digital content creation
  • Ability to make own content (with some proven experience). UCB will also work with you to fine-tune and polish what you produce
  • The ability to work solo and to deadlines but also be able to integrate well into a team environment

UCB Prayerline Phone Volunteer

Your responsibilities will include answering the telephone for a minimum of two hours per week, and praying for callers quoting relevant Bible scriptures in order to encourage them during their current situation. For more information, please take a look at the role description.

The ideal volunteers will be people who are happy to offer their time flexibly during the day, evening or weekends and enjoy the challenge of listening and praying with people.  As you’ll be asked to quote scripture, it’s a requirement that Prayerline volunteers are committed Christians in good standing with a local church.  You'll be fully trained and supported and relevant equipment will be provided.

Volunteer - Company Wide Positions
 
United Christian Broadcasters has some exciting opportunities for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about UCB and the work that we do. If you have a few hours to spare each week and want to get involved in helping advance God's Kingdom then we want to hear from you!

We currently have volunteer positions at both our Operations Centre in Burslem and Broadcasting Centre in Hanchurch. Our departments are diverse and require a range of people with different skills and abilities; you could be involved in tasks such as booking guests for a radio show, researching content for one of our publications, helping keep our buildings clean or packing material to be sent out to supporters.

We are looking for reliable volunteers who can contribute to the work of the ministry. If you have good communication skills, are well organised, reliable and can work independently or as a team player then come and get involved! Some roles will require volunteers who are computer literate or have good administration skills; whatever your abilities we would love to hear from you.
