Academy Student/Broadcast Assistant

United Christian Broadcasters Limited, Broadcasting Centre, Hanchurch Lane, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 8RY

 

 

Hours:  

Full Time, flexibly across the week.

To include ILM training course times – approximately half a day per week

  

Applicant Profile:   

  • A committed Christian with a passion for media, creativity, production and ministry who will learn to help deliver a distinctly Christian service to UCB and its listeners, ensuring programme content for recording or on air delivery is consistent with Christian standards and that relevant biblical teaching has been correctly interpreted and applied.

 

Learning:

  • You will learn how to prepare for daily live radio shows on UCB’s national stations.
  • To coordinate with presenter(s) content and timings of broadcasts.
  • Initiate, establish and maintain working relationships with organisations, ministries and denominations at all levels where necessary to acquire relevant content.
  • You will learn the basics of presenting and communicating to a wide broadcast audience.
  • Learn to understand target audiences, how they listen, how and when they respond to programming, what makes a good on air sound, what attracts and will keep listeners and ensure the programme is prepared accordingly.
  • Learn relevant OFCOM regulations and how they apply
  • Learn how to keep up to date with current affairs and relevant news.
  • Learn how to monitor the programme as it airs and to provide further input required as the programme develops, and any additional support, back up, etc. needed by the presenter, on the spot production assistance during transmission.
  • Learn how to work under pressure; the requirement to be flexible and reactive.
  • Have good administrative and organisational skills. Deal with mail, emails, and telephone calls, update website/social media information.
  • Learn to digitally assemble a programme within the radio operating system (Zetta).
  • You will attend regular ILM training and assignment sessions and complete the necessary assessments associated with this.
  • You will learn to embrace UCB’s commitment to gathering and sharing stories, to inspire and encourage others in all that we do.
  • Be an ambassador for Christ, UCB and its mission.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • You will have an understanding of Broadcasting within the context of Christian ministry.
  • Time management and planning skills.
  • Demonstrable high level of attention to detail.
  • Willingness to offer solutions and ideas within the team.
  • Desire to learn, train and develop skills and experience.
  • A good working knowledge of standard office software, such as Microsoft office.
  • A graduate or can demonstrate equivalent experience

  • The commitment to participate in daily prayer time
  • Successful applicants would need good administration’ organisational skills and communication skills (including email, telephone, Social Media and the Web).
  • Have a high level of confidentiality.
