Our Prayerline call takers are all volunteers who have a passion for prayer and an intimate relationship with Jesus that desires them to see breakthrough in people’s lives.  This role, as part of our staff team, will ensure that our volunteers as well as our callers have a safe and positive experience of telephone prayer ministry.

In order to fulfil this role, you must be computer literate, able to monitor the call management system, analysing dropped calls and call waiting times but also ensuring that volunteers are able to log into and out of the system successfully.  You will also need excellent people skills as you will be the point of escalation should a volunteer have a difficult call and need prayer and support themselves.  You will also be required to pray for callers should you notice that waiting times are becoming too long.

We are looking for someone who can offer us three evenings per week from 5.00pm – 10.00pm.  In addition, you will cover one Saturday in every four from 10.00am – 6.00pm.

If you have a passion for people and prayer and have the insight to know how data can help sustain and improve our service then you may be the right fit for this role.

The position will be home based following training at our Operations Centre, Westport Road, Burslem, Stoke on Trent ST6 4JF.

Head of Supporter Care

This is a key role within the Operations Department reporting directly to the Operations Director, and working closely with Finance and Communications (our fundraising and marketing function). Supporter Care aims to deliver exceptional service to our supporters in terms of administering donations and postal logistics, and via our call-centre. Therefore, a key focus will be the leadership of the Administration and Telephone Support teams (both are within Supporter Care).  

A significant objective for this role is the implementation of a new CRM system which is part of UCB’s wider integrated data strategy. Working alongside IT, and Finance in particular, the Head of Supporter Care is responsible for the management of data in the new CRM system. Therefore, you will have knowledge and previous experience of working with CRM systems. Furthermore, you will be responsible for ensuring Supporter Care staff are trained, and associated ways of working are stream-lined.

We expect you to have leadership experience with strong business acumen and service development, educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent experience. As part of UCB’s leadership team you should welcome the challenge of prioritising a busy and diverse workload with the ability and flexibility required to meet tight deadlines and the initiative required to guide the Supporter Care staff through this transition period. A working knowledge of regulations associated with fundraising would be ideal, but not essential (such as HMRC, ICO, GDPR, Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulation).

United Christian Broadcasters wants to provide a 12-month opportunity to an individual who is excited, keen and committed to contributing to the work of a team who enthusiastically covers national and international news and current affairs.

Supported by experienced Christian broadcast journalists and producers, your role will include pitching creative and original content ideas, researching, arranging radio interviews, and writing for radio / online / social media. You will be based full-time at the UCB Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent (Postcode ST4 8RY).

You will need to be a committed Christian, with your own personal transport to get to/from the UCB Broadcast Centre, and you must live within reasonable commuting distance.

Freelance Broadcast Journalists

UCB News is looking for experienced freelance Broadcast Journalists who can work across multiple platforms for the Christian media charity, United Christian Broadcasters.

We want to hear from you if you can:

  • demonstrate that you are a committed Christian and connected to a mainstream church
  • independently report on news and present it in different formats for radio, digital platforms and social media
  • confidently present news bulletins in a live radio environment
  • show us your excellent awareness of news values, bulletin running orders, broadcasting law and the Ofcom Code
  • bring an understanding of relevant national and international issues that engage a Christian audience
  • be available to work different shifts (between early morning and early evening) on any day of the week – sometimes standing in for other broadcast journalists at short notice

Join a buzzing atmosphere during the UCB Radio Appeal!

UCB is a vibrant Christian charity that runs two national Christian radio stations, a free Prayerline phone service, and the UCB Word For Today (one of the largest free Christian devotionals in the UK). All of these incredible resources are funded fully by our amazing supporters.

The Appeal: For a week in March 2025, UCB Radio invites its listeners to join together for a special 5-day Appeal. During this week, we share encouraging testimonies from those whose lives have been impacted by God through UCB, and we invite listeners to help CONTINUE changing lives by sowing financially into UCB’s Christian resources.

The Role: The phones are busy with our generous supporters calling in to give, so we need YOUR help! Appeal volunteers will have the opportunity to speak to our lovely callers by answering the donation line, processing donations, and thanking callers for their gifts. Based in our offices here in Stoke-on-Trent, you will have full support while on the phones, with a relaxed and friendly Appeal Team (made up of staff and other volunteers) by your side.

If you would like to spend a few hours enjoying the fun and energy of our Appeal week, have a good clear telephone voice, and are able to record data accurately, then please apply to come and join us!

We will provide all the training and support you’ll need to make it a fun and rewarding experience. For more information, please see the role description on our website.

This position will be based at our offices in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. The next appeal week runs from Monday 1st to Friday 7th March 2025 and we ask that volunteers sign up to a minimum of 5 hours across the week. Food and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers.

No cold calling, no sales – inbound calls only. Would suit anyone with open availability during standard weekday working hours.

Profile: Spark is the brand new devotional app for kids.  If you’re passionate about sharing the gospel with young people, UCB is looking for volunteer content creators to help us make, edit and produce daily Bible-themed videos.

Hours: We’re looking for volunteers to commit to being involved regularly – anything from 2 – 10 hours per month. Whatever you are able to offer.

Tasks include

·    Working alongside our PR & Marketing team, along with other content creators, you’ll be helping to create and develop exciting Bible-based content for young people, based on a range of relevant topics

·    Depending on skillset, developing video, audio and graphic based content

·    Brainstorm with the wider team on new content and content ideas so we can keep things fresh and relevant

What we’re looking for…

·    You need to be a Christian with a living faith and a good understanding of the Bible and biblical themes

·    We’re looking for people from all-ages from 16+ who have the confidence and ability to connect with young people on digital and social platforms

·    Good knowledge of social media and digital content creation

·    Ability to make own content (with some proven experience). UCB will also work with you to fine-tune and polish what you produce

·    The ability to work solo and to deadlines but also be able to integrate well into a team environment

We currently have volunteer positions at both our Operations Centre in Burslem and Broadcasting Centre in Hanchurch. Our departments are diverse and require a range of people with different skills and abilities; you could be involved in tasks such as booking guests for a radio show, researching content for one of our publications, helping keep our buildings clean or packing material to be sent out to supporters.

We are looking for reliable volunteers who can contribute to the work of the ministry. If you have good communication skills, are well organised, reliable and can work independently or as a team player then come and get involved!
