TODAY'S WORD 4U 2DAY
SATAN IS DEFEATED (2)John 8:32
First words matter. They often tell us what matters most to someone. For babies it’s usually ‘Mama’ or ‘Dada’. God’s first words (in the Bible) are significant too and show us what matters to Him: ‘Let there be light’ (Genesis 1:3 NLT). To God, light really matters, and if you’re His child then it should matter to you too.
But sometimes we prefer the dark. After all, keeping things hidden can be so much easier. We can say things are fine when they’re not. satan loves the dark because it’s harder to spot what he’s up to there. His favourite thing is when sin gets brushed under the carpet because it can happily fester and grow. A nice sheepskin rug doesn’t mean there’s no harmful bacteria underneath; there could be a stain lurking that you’re trying to hide.
Darkness and light don’t mix. Jesus Himself is that Light, and His life on earth shone so bright that even the most religious people couldn’t handle it. He wants you to shine too, but it means letting go of the darkness. He wants to reveal the darkest parts of your life so you can walk freely in the light. Christ will shine light in to your life, but only if you’ll let Him.
Read 2 Corinthians 4:1–7 then take a small candle (or your phone) into a dark room, and notice how much it illuminates the darkness. While you are there, confess any dark sin, and pray for your life to become a clear and piercing light.
