TODAY'S WORD 4U 2DAY

SATAN IS DEFEATED (1)

1 John 3:8

Over the next few days, we’re going to be looking at the basic fact that satan is defeated. There’s no cause to hide behind the sofa at the mention of the ‘s’ word, and we’ll find out why.

satan is real – If you believe in the idea of a spiritual realm, with both good and bad powers at work, it’s not an illogical idea – but he won’t be announcing himself in your living room in a red catsuit with a pitchfork. And throw far from your mind the ‘good god’ and ‘bad god’ model that would paint satan as yin to God’s yang, an equal and opposite power. In a sense, he holds some power. But he is not God. And it’s important to understand that God has once and for all annihilated satan. He loses. God wins. It’s not even close – it’s more comparable to an elephant trampling a worm.

It’s the story that’s told throughout the Bible. And the more you sync your life up with Jesus’ life and believe what the Bible says about satan’s destination, the better equipped you’ll be to overcome the enemy’s attacks. God’s Word is ‘alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword’ (Hebrews 4:12 NLT).

What now?

Read Luke 10:17–20. You could draw or paint the story, maybe in a symbolic or abstract way, as an act of worship and thanksgiving to God.
