TODAY'S WORD 4U 2DAY
What does God want? (2)'Teach me to do your will.’ Psalm 143:10 NIV
When you look back on your life (hopefully a few years from now), the thing that’ll give you the most joy is knowing you’ve done the will of God. It should be a pretty sweet moment. But to get there, you have to want to do God’s will. If you've cultivated a real, deep desire to do God's will, that'll help you learn to hear His voice more than anything else. If you're saying to God, 'I really am bothered about doing your will,' then you have the kind of inner stance towards God that He loves way more than actions (though those are important too). Then you'll hear His voice, and you’ll know what to do with it. Jesus spoke about this. In John 17:17, He said those who really cared about doing God's will would be able to hear what was God's voice and what wasn't. So, if you really, honestly, want to live your life for God, you'll start to know who's speaking when you hear God's voice. You'll tune in much faster. Other people will miss it, because God's voice might sound too quiet, too out of place, or too much of an inconvenience. But people who burn with a passion to do what God wants tend to hear what He's saying more quickly. Funny, that. So. Today, if you're asking 'how do I get to know God's will?', ask yourself, 'hang on, do I actually want to?' Figure that out. Then, push in. Tell God 'I'm up for this. I'm all in.' And listen out.
Test your passion. Check your priorities. Think, ‘is doing God's will my main aim?’ in every environment you walk into today.
