TODAY'S WORD 4U 2DAY

YOU ARE THE CHURCH (2)

Nehemiah 3:5

When talking about church, Soul Survivor’s leader Mike Pilavachi once said, ‘It’s neat and tidy in the graveyard, but it’s messy in the nursery.’ Despite the chaos, there’s no doubt that there’s plenty of life in a nursery. So whether your church makes you feel like you’re visiting a morgue, or you’d prefer a bit more tranquillity, thank God for your church. Work within its limitations, strengths and weaknesses, and enjoy the community with the people of God who are there with you. Trust that God has a plan for you there, and you can more than play your part.

And no matter what church you go to, you’ll always find a pick-and-mix bunch – some might be easy to love, and others may ‘grow your grace’. But whatever they’re like, make sure you’re someone who can be relied on, if you’re there to help. Getting excited after the fun summer conferences, only to not be seen for a month, isn’t the best way to be seen as friendly or consistent.

Loads of things demand your attention, but it’s only when you prioritise knuckling down with other Christians that your prayers for your church start to get answered. You are the church.

What now?

Read Hebrews 10:23–25 then make a note of two or three people who you can invite to church this week.
