TODAY'S WORD 4U 2DAY

DO YOU WANT TO HEAR FROM GOD?

Isaiah 30:21

First off, ask yourself: what do I mean “hear from God”? Do I want guidance? A sense of intimacy with Him? Reassurance that He’s there? What would you give someone who asked you about one of these? Look around you and see if you can spot God’s answers for these in your everyday life.
God has given all free access to His presence, to speak with Him, to Him. Praise Jesus! “Not so fast”, you might say. “That’s all well and good, I’ve heard the story, but that doesn’t help me right here, right now, to know how to hear God. Yeah, Jesus may have won it, but if that’s so, why don’t I hear from God?!”

Don’t groan too loudly, but... Your Bible is from God. Read it, spend time thinking and praying about what you read in it, spend time talking about it. Know it better, and you will be ‘hearing from God’. “Standard answer!”, you might cry, “That’s not really hearing from God, that’s just reading your Bible more.” There’s truth in it though. And here’s the second part: in our experience, the more of the Bible you know, the more you are open to hearing from Him elsewhere too.

That’s a biggie, don’t let it slip past you! If you’re closer to Him, you’re more likely to hear Him! It’s a no-brainer. This isn’t because God can’t speak to you whilst you’re far away, but the more open to hearing from Him you are, the less He has to barge in if He wants to be heard.
So get nearer to your Heavenly “Abba”, go sit with Him and stare at the stars together. As you shut out the noise around you, you may notice His presence more and more clearly.

(*footnote! There is another category, of people who God is being deliberately quiet with, to teach you something deeply important. It’s tough, but He hasn’t left you. Chances are He’s delighted with you! Hang on in there, and get into your Bibles like never before, He’s not left your side through any of this.)

What now?

Try the Bible in a Year at the back of the Word 4U 2Day for help committing to spending time with Him, but make time to just sit with God too.
