 MESSAGE Christian Telephone Service was created in 1969 by the late Norah Coggan, sister of previous Archbishop of Canterbury, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Donald Coggan. It was designed to be a national service offered by groups of local churches explaining the good news of Jesus Christ, through two-minute recorded telephone talks.
UCB were asked to continue this service as they were seen to be able to widen its appeal by incorporating The Word For Today.
What is UCB Message?
UCB Message is a new way of receiving encouragement from The Word For Today, by listening to daily readings through your home phone or mobile.
What is the aim of UCB Message?
The aim of UCB Message is to ensure that people have constant access to an encouraging Christian message at the end of their phones.
Who will UCB Message appeal to?
UCB Message will appeal to a broad audience, including those who are visually impaired, people who want to catch up with missed readings, and those who just want to be encouraged and inspired by the message that The Word For Today brings.
Why has UCB become involved in this project?
UCB saw this opportunity as another way that people can receive encouragement from The Word For Today. They also identified that they had the resources to make this service available to a wider range of people, where as before it had been limited to a smaller, more specific audience.
How do you use UCB Message?
All you need to do is call 0870 741 5369 (national rate) and you will be able to hear the daily readings of The Word For Today. You will also be able to access readings for any day in that particular calendar month.
