 January 1995 saw the birth and official launch of UCB's telephone Listening Line. A service that was established to help support, encourage and pray for listeners of our radio broadcasts, along with readers of The Word For Today. A small team began work covering our phone lines for six hours each weekday.
The growth in demand for this service meant that in 1998 UCB began working in partnership with other Christian Ministries to meet Listening Line callers' needs.
From January 2003, UCB Listening Line became UCB Prayerline operating from UCB headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent. A new team was recruited to head up this important part of the UCB ministry. Neil Winterton, appointed Prayerline Manager, was joined by Lynne Parker, Trevor Nicklin and Hilary Johnson as Prayerline Supervisors.
Taking up the post Neil Winterton said, 'This is a wonderful opportunity for Christians to get involved in direct ministry with other believers and reach out to people in need, many of which don't yet know the Lord.' The vision of Prayerline is to expand to become a national ministry and to direct the heart and minds of people in our nations towards our prayer-answering God.
Listening and praying are essential ingredients when people call the Prayerline with their needs or when seeking support. UCB Prayerline is available Monday through Friday from 9am to 10.30pm.
