'...We are all formed by your hand'Isaiah 64:8 NLT
STEEL OR PLAY DOH?
Superman or Morph? Who would you rather be? The Man of Steel versus a lump of clay. Superman could do just about anything, everything bounced off him and he could stop anything in its tracks. Morph, on the other hand, kept getting remoulded and reshaped, and even splattered into a ball of clay again and again.
It might seem like the answer's obviously Superman, but what if we were wrong? If you look at it from God's point of view, God wants to make, create and shape you in to a man or woman of God. So which is easier to work with, clay or steel? If you're a bit more like steel than play-doh, He'll still be patient with you to do what He has to do, but it might take more time and effort, and will probably be more painful for you. Once you're like clay, God can shape you and use you and work with you. When He's done, your desires will start to match up with His desires.
If you look inside yourself (metaphorically, of course) what are those things you desperately want? If you only want recognition, popularity and progress, then you're probably falling short. Take Jesus: most people thought Jesus came to rule the Jews and sort out the Romans, and yet He ended up dying on a cross.
Get hold of a lump of play-doh or clay (or even blue tack!) and as you shape it, think about your current circumstances. Ask yourself how God might be shaping you through them.
