TODAY'S WORD 4U 2DAY

STONE IN FOCUS

John 11:39

Lazarus was dead. There was no hiding it. It had been three days. But nothing’s impossible with God, right?  A heavy stone stood between Lazarus and new life. Then Jesus gave the command, ‘Remove the stone.’

God knows how our hearts can become stone-hard. People hurt us. We hurt ourselves. We hurt other people. It’s called sin, and it’s more lethal than a terminal illness. Simply being a Christian doesn’t make you immune. It subtly creeps in like cancer and causes us to die inside. All of this puts a solid wall between us and the fullness of life God wants for us.

But He is God, He is good and He hasn’t left us alone. ’I'll give you a new heart,’ He says, ‘put a new spirit in you. I'll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that's God-willed, not self-willed. I'll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands’ (Ezekiel 36:26 TM).  That new Spirit is Jesus – His power is strong enough to shift any stony heart, and bring new life from certain death.

What now?

Is there something or someone you need to put things right with? It may be God, family or friend, or an enemy. Ask God for His courage as you look to be reconciled if it doesn’t seem like it will be an easy task.
