TODAY'S WORD 4U 2DAY
'Run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up'Hebrews 12:1 GWT
Life: it's a marathon, not a sprint. Get yourself on the starting line and anyone can go pegging off, but it's only another twenty six miles and a whole load of comfort breaks later that you find out who wins. Is it a case of 'all the gear, no idea'? God wants you to win! He wants you to keep running no matter what you face. The apostle Paul wouldn't have had a pair of battered trainers to show for it but he got to the end of his life knowing he'd run well. He wasn't being arrogant; He was just telling it how it was: 'I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.'
Let's consider a few of the obstacles you might have to deal with as you're running your own marathon of life. 1) Temptation. You might be at the beginning stages of your race when along comes a tempting short-cut. You don't think it's legit, but everyone else is taking it too, so why not? Because God says you should submit yourself to Him; resist temptation and it will go away. 2) Accusation. People saying you've cheated? Talk to the hand, girlfriend! 3) Rejection. You might have to run parts of it alone. But God is with you mighty warrior! 4) Shame. Fallen flat on your face? Blood running down your leg? Then you've tasted what Jesus tasted. Get back up and keep running!
Go for a run (or a light jog). As you're running think about what obstacles you might be facing in life. Ask God for more of His power.
