TODAY'S WORD 4U 2DAY
HOW TO MAKE A COMMITTED CHOICE (1)Proverbs 16:3
By now, you’ve probably been warned a few times about the perils and pitfalls of making a bad decision. And that’s wise: Angry Birds at A Level is probably not going to get you any points with a discerning admissions tutor.
But paralysis – just sitting there and not making that all-important decision – can be just as risky. Picture the donkey standing between two bales of hay, unable to decide which one to eat and afraid of making the wrong choice. Eventually he just starves to death!
So how can you avoid being an ass? 1) Stop trying to please everybody. ‘Fear of man is a dangerous trap, but to trust in God means safety’ (Prov. 29:25 TLB). Once you know God’s will, don’t be thrown off track by others. 2) When God is on your side, you’ll succeed. Fear of failure can stop you going places but fear is just an emotion. God’s Word, on the other hand, is unshakeable: ‘Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.’ 3) Stay in tune, stay on track. As long as you keep close to God in prayer, your steps can’t fail. ‘I am the world’s light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in’ (John 8:12 TM).
List the ‘fors’ and ‘againsts’ over a choice you need to make. Pray God’s guidance over your final decision.
